The OWRB offers the following resources to educate and train floodplain management professionals on effective floodplain management practices and requirements. Floodplain administrators can earn credit toward Oklahoma's accreditation requirements by attending an approved conference or workshop, or completing FEMA's online courses. Be sure to save completed course certificates for accreditation purposes and send a copy to Miranda Thomas. Sign up today! Space is limited. FEMA 4X2 Floodplain Training Modules
The in-person L0273 course: Managing Floodplain Development Through the National Flood Insurance Program is not available at this time. In place, FEMA and the Oklahoma Water Resources Board are offering the 4x2 FEMA Floodplain Training Modules. Rather than four, eight-hour days of in-person instruction, we will pivot to four, two-hour days of virtual instruction. The training will take place from 9-11 a.m., March 15-18, 2021. This training includes an overview of the NFIP, flood maps and studies, floodplain management regulations, permitting requirements and compliance implications for flood insurance. Please know the webinar will take place in Adobe Connect, and it may take some time to access the link. PLEASE NOTE: REGISTRATION CLOSES AT 5 PM ON MARCH 10.
