Oklahoma Water Atlas

The 2007 Centennial update of the Oklahoma Water Atlas includes 146 detailed maps containing recreational features, topography, bathymetry, access points, and other important information about the state's most popular lakes. This is the fourth official update of the Water Atlas.

Notable Government Document Award 2007 American Library Association

This page contains links to the online version of the Water Atlas. Click on any lake to access information including lake size, capacity, age, uses, and ownership. Each lake page also contains a link to a high resolution (printable) map* along with additional links to water quality data from the OWRB's Beneficial Use Monitoring Program. Many lake pages also link to current water levels and recreational information.

About the Maps

Oklahoma Water Atlas maps are designed for both research and utility. Depicted area in each map will vary depending on the size and shape of the lake. For reference, the scale is included on each map (expressed in miles or feet, depending upon lake size). Some recreation features may not have been included due to map scale.

Maps were produced from a variety of datasets, including the National Elevation Dataset (NED), National Hydrography Dataset (NHD), Watershed Boundary Dataset (WBD), U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) and National Resources Conservation Services (NRCS) digital ortho-rectified photography, Bureau of Reclamation lake data, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers lake data, and U.S. Census Bureau Tiger Line Files. Locations of fish attractors were provided by the Oklahoma Department of Wildlife Conservation (ODWC). Other agencies that supplied data, either directly or indirectly, include the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), U.S. Forest Service, and the National Parks Service.

Map Legend

MAP PROJECTION
All Water Atlas maps are projected to the Albers Equal Area Conic projection and referenced to North American Datum (1983).

REVISIONS
The OWRB encourages recreationists and other lake visitors to notify us of necessary corrections to particular lake maps.

Bathymetric Maps: Some maps contain lake bottom contour elevations. This information was included to give users a general idea of lake depths but the maps are not intended to be used as navigational charts for boating.
