Description:
Abstract:
This digital dataset represents the Nutrient Limited Watersheds (NLW) as described by the Oklahoma Water Quality Standards. The OWRB defines NLW as "watershed of a waterbody with a designated beneficial use which is adversely affected by excess nutrients as determined by Carlson's Trophic State Index (using chlorophyll-a) of 62 or greater ...".
Purpose:
The purpose of this digital dataset is to show the spatial extent of the watersheds contributing to the impaired water bodies.

The 1:24,000 Watershed Boundary Dataset (WBD) was used to define the NLW watershed boundaries. In watersheds where the waterbody's drainage was smaller than the defined 12-digit units, the watersheds were on screen digitized from the USGS 1:24,000 Digital Raster Graphics (DRG). The screen resolution was set to 1:10,000.

Process_Description:
Individual 12-digit sub watersheds encompassing the waterbody's drainages were selected from the Watershed Boundary Dataset (WBD) and exported as a new shapefiles. The individual sub watershed were merged together to create a single polygon watershed. When necessary the watersheds were clipped to include only the upstream drainage above each waterbody's dam. There were 19 individual polygon shapefiles produced.
