Biggert-Waters Flood Insurance Reform Act of 2012

On July 6, 2012, the Biggert-Waters Flood Insurance Reform Act of 2012 was enacted by Congress and signed into law by the President. The Act reauthorizes the National Flood Insurance Program (NFIP) through September 30, 2017, and through reforms, will bring several substantive changes to the National Flood Insurance Program. These reforms may have a significant impact on both present and future flood insurance policy holders, and communities that participate in the National Flood Insurance Program. The Oklahoma Water Resources Board, as the state coordinating agency for the NFIP, will be providing updates and information to the public as the reforms move forward.
